Lars Mikkelsen

Lars MikkelsenAt 27 years old, he entered the National Theatre School of Denmark. He graduated in 1994. Alongside his role as the lead actor in The Killing as well as his appearance in two other critically acclaimed Danish dramas, Those Who Kill, and Borgen III. He also was in the episodes of BBC drama Sherlock as Charles Augustus Magnussen (blackmailer). In American television series House of Cards, his character was the President of Russia. In 2018, he won an International Emmy Award for his role as president of Russia in the Danish television drama Herrens Veje. This was broadcast in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in 2019. Mikkelsen is fluent in English, Swedish and German. He also speaks several accents. According to Mikkelsen's account the story, he and his brother were taught English by studying Monty Python records.
